The submarine cable break in Madang for Kumul Submarine Cable Network (KSCN) System One (1) and Two (2) and PPC-1 Cable to Sydney and Guam are fully restored.
PNG DataCo chief executive officer, Paul Komboi said they have fully restored the submarine cable break in Madang for KSCN Systems 1 and 2 as well as the PPC-1 Cable to Sydney and Guam after the submarine cables were damaged by the earthquake.
He said they have achieved full restoration after the submarine cables were successfully recovered and splicing was undertaken.
“Our engineers are now rerouting traffic from Port Moresby to Madang via PPC-1 and Lae-Highlands traffic via fibre cable network to Madang and then distributed to Guam and Sydney respectively,” he said.
“Service quality in the Highlands, Mamose and New Guinea Islands should be back to normal within the next 36 hours.
